Quaking aspens get their name from the way they appear to "quake" or "tremble" in the wind. These trees are also unique because an entire grove can share a single root system, making all the trees in the grove part of one living organism. The Pando grove, located west of Moab, is widely considered the largest living organism on Earth by weight and area.

If you've spent time with my images, you've probably noticed that I have a passion for trees. Aspens are definitely one of my favorites. I visited the La Sal Mountains outside of Moab in late September, and these beautiful trees were at their peak fall color.
